Coronavirus 3/10 CLOSURE Update

March 10, 2020

Dear T-D Family,
New York State Governor, Mario Cuomo, just announced that all schools and places of public gathering within a mile radius of the Young Israel Synagogue will be closed effective Thursday, March 12 through Wednesday, March 25. Unfortunately, T-D is within that radius. Therefore, we will be closed effective today at 3 PM. We expect school to reopen on Thursday, March 26.

T-D staff and students have been reviewing Google Classroom and how we can best teach and learn remotely. Staff and students are primed to take on this challenge. If any student needs to pick up books or materials to cover the next two weeks, T-D will be open from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM tomorrow so they can do so. Please note, no classes will be held.
I want to thank our parents, students and staff for the steps everyone has taken to keep our community healthy and our school opened.
Regretful we have to close but grateful that we have had no reported cases of the virus.

Keeping The T-D Family Safe  from the  Coronavirus

Dear T-D Family,

Many schools in the proximity of T-D have closed and the New Rochelle School District is considering taking that step.

To keep the T-D Family as safe as possible, I am asking everyone to make sure their child stays home if they develop a fever, cough, or shortness of breath. You should check with your healthcare provider to determine if a test for COVID-19 should be administered.

If you find any family member has come in contact with someone who has contracted the virus, again, please do not send your child to school. We ask you to disclose this fact to us so we may assess the risk to our community.

Please stress to your children that they should wash their hands often and try to avoid touching their face. They also must cover their mouths when they sneeze or cough. Again, for your convenience, click here for the link to the CDC website.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Dear T-D Family:

While authorities continue to advise us to remain calm, many of us carry burdensome thoughts and responsibilities as the Coronavirus moves closer to T-D and T-D families.

To help relieve some of that anxiety I want to tell you about our plans as of today:

#1 – T-D is opened and will continue to be so until…….

#2 – A federal, state, or local government office mandates a closure.

#3 – T-D does have a plan in the event of an anticipated or unexpected closure. T-D will begin Distance Learning utilizing the Google classroom, which our students and staff are already familiar with, as our educational engine.

#4 – T-D will remain closed until outside authorities dictate otherwise and/or until T-D feels confident that classes can resume on campus in a healthy and safe environment.T-D will continue to provide timely updates beginning this coming Monday.

Sincerely yours,

Douglas E. Fleming, Jr.

Flu and COVID-19

Dear T-D Families: In light of recent health concerns regarding flu as well as the Coronavirus, T-D wants to remind parents, for the well-being of all, to exercise caution when dealing with illness. If your child is experiencing any of the following, he or she should not come to T-D:

  1. having a 24-hour fever without medication
  2. muscle or body aches
  3. coughing
  4. stomach ache
  5. diarrhea
  6. vomiting
  7. sore throat
  8. drainage from eyes that are crusty

It is also highly recommended that to stay healthy one must wash your hands often, try to avoid close contact, and cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. You should also avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth and get sufficient rest. For further information and more specifics please check with: www.cdc.gov/COVID19. Thank you for your cooperation and we hope everyone stays healthy.
