Dear T-D Family:
I hope you have had time to read the Glory Days itinerary and if you are interested, I invite you to join in on our trips to one or all venues.
T-D has already attracted sponsorship for Thursday, February 8th at the Unitarian Church. A tenth grade parent who very much enjoys music is helping with the expenses of this day and helping bring Adam Kent center stage by making an anonymous donation. Dr. Kent’s resume speaks louder “notes” than any piano could play. Please read it (see attached). Seventh grader, Ellis Ryan’s mom, Dee, is a communicant of this Church and has heard Adam play there many times. She wants to come to the Unitarian Church that day as she says Dr. Kent is amazing.
Any T-D parent wishing to sponsor an activity or event within any one of the 15 venues, can do so by simply calling.
After lunch on Monday, Feb. 5, students in grades 9-12 may opt to continue their “Glorious Journey.” The students who do not take part in this “add-on” will be bused back to T-D as per the itinerary. From Prince Street, T-D will amble over to 126 Crosby Street to the Housing Works Used Book Cafe-a healing community for people living in crisis and offering them lifesaving services. To raise funds, in addition to the Book Store, there is a Thrift Store.
After about 45 minutes, T-D will make its way to 238 East Ninth Street, possibly by subway, and have dinner at the Cloister Cafe. The price for a meal ranges from $15-$25.
T-D will next take the subway to Grand Central Station and proceed a few blocks-by foot-to Saint Bart’s located at 325 Park Avenue. There we will enjoy a performance by their Boys and Girls Choristers. Click here for flyer.
How we return to T-D will depend on the number of students who take part in these Monday afternoon events. Up to 15 students-everyone will be brought back via Vango at no charge. If there are more than 15 students, everyone will take the train back to New Rochelle and Vango will bring them to T-D at no charge.
Each participating student, therefore, will need up to $50 which will be paid to the venues-on the spot.
Home ETA-around 8PM
I hope you are pleased at being part of a school family engaged in a week like none other-not just here but anywhere else I know.
