New School Year 2019-20
Dear T-D Family:
The Summer Challenge 51 was an enormous success and Annemarie and her staff created so many smiles and good will. Hip! Hip! Hooray!!
T-D’s new school year is about to begin and September 12th is not that far away. All middle and upper school students will find over 20 T-D theme course descriptions on our website Thursday, September 5th at 12:00 Noon.
All of them are very inviting and really make Sacred Geography much more of a lure. Grades 6 and 7 may be too busy with basic skills to consider themed courses.
On Saturday, September 7th I will be at T-D at 9:00 AM to program seniors and create their schedules. Seniors can arrive any time between 9:00 AM and 12:30 PM. Your actual presence is far from mandatory, however, as schedules can be created on the first day of school or Seniors may email their schedule requests to me at email@example.com.
On Sunday, September 8th Juniors can report from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. If you cannot attend, schedules will be created the first day of school. On Monday, September 9th from 8 AM to 1 PM, I will see any sophomore or freshman for scheduling. If a student is unable to be present, schedules will be arranged on opening day. On Tuesday, September 10th Grade 8 can visit from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and either I or Ms. Keating will be on hand to help. On Wednesday, September 11th Grades 6 and 7 can visit the school from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
As always, there are changes each year. Some are obvious such as T-D’s Chapel and Guatemala Room which both look much more attractive. Check them out. Lots of dollars were spent. Regretfully, you will not see Mrs. Silverstein at her desk; nor Ms. Blackstone, who has found a new position elsewhere and Ms. Light who has resigned. More info will be following as T-D will be inheriting some new faculty faithfuls.
Parents please note that there are two important September dates. New Student Orientation is on Wednesday, Sept 11th and the Parent-Teacher Partnership (PTP) Parent Welcome Warmer is on September 24th. The following Wednesday, October 2nd, all T-D families should attend the Parent-Teacher Partnership meeting to discuss yearly plans, school socials, activities, speakers, and fundraising. Of immediate interest should be the following dates. You will find them noted on the monthly calendar on our T-D website.
Friday, September 20th – United Nations International Peace Day
Monday, September 23rd – Grades 6 – 12 – Field Trip to N.Y.C. to a theatrical presentation featuring da Vinci and Michelangelo
Tuesday, September 24th – New Parents Welcome Warmer hosted bythe Parent-Teacher Partnership
Thursday, September 26th – Grades 9 – 12 – The Rubin Art Museum
Wednesday, October 2nd – Parent-Teacher Partnership Meeting
Tuesday, October 8th – Museum of Jewish Heritage – Auschwitz
With new energy, new blood, lots of activities and field trips, Sacred Geography is already looking like a celestial year.
