Lower and Middle Schools News
Dear Lower & Middle School Families,
I don’t know about you… but I have been complaining about this heat!  However as Bob Dylan once stated, “If you think the summer sun is too hot, just remember, at least you don’t have to shovel it.” Soon enough we will be complaining about the snow.
As Thornton-Donovan’s Summer Challenge Camp ended, our teachers continued readying their classes for “Flying with the Condors.”  Each year I am truly amazed about the excitement T-D creates for our thematic classes.  I know the teachers and I have been brushing up on our knowledge of South America. We have some terrific events planned to enhance our journey through Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands.
This year at T-D we have a kindergarten class that will stand alone and we are so happy to be welcoming these new families to our school family.
New Student Orientation will be Wednesday, September 7th at 10:00 am.  Of course, returning students are also welcome. We will begin in the Berns Memorial Library and take a tour of the school grounds and than have a “meet-n-greet” with individual teachers.
All grade 6 and new students entering grades 7 and 8 will have Student Orientation at 12:00 pm in the Berns Memorial Library on Wednesday September 7th.  Subject teachers will be on hand to discuss expectations and supplies needed.
Please note all current school supply lists and the monthly and yearly calendars can be found on the school’s website
The first day of school is September 8th.
Looking forward to journeying to Machu Picchu and the Galapagos with you.
Very truly yours,
Virginia Keating
K-8 Director
