Each year Thornton-Donovan calls upon a few select students with strong social strengths to represent America abroad.
After a recent visit to T-D of five students from Guatemala, three T-D students travelled to their country for a social, cultural and educational visit. Lorenzo Gazzola, Joanna de Gramont and Diale Takona enjoyed seven days with students from the Evelyn Rogers School in Fraijanes. The text below is extracted from an email exchange between the Sampiero and Gazzola families.
“Dear Maria: Lorenzo is on his way. Thank you for your trust. You have a wonderfull son, respectfull, funny, clever, easy going. Hope one day we can meet. Bye.”
Thank you for the wonderful photos and for arranging all these great experiences for Lorenzo! We imagined he was having a great time since we have not heard from him all week…”
“. . . . Lorenzo was so enthusiastic about you and your wonderful family and all the new people he met and friends he made and all the wonderful places he visited and experiences he had…He could have stayed up all night recounting them. My husband and I am forever grateful to you, your wife and your amazing boys for taking such good care of him during his stay there and of course to Mr Fleming for arranging this exchange. We look forward to reciprocating in the future. We hope to meet one day either in Guatemala or NY!
“Merry Christmas and warmest wishes for a wonderful New Year!
Maria & Mario Gazzola”
