A New Chapter: AI at Thornton Donovan School
The Thornton Donovan School is beginning a new chapter in its 125-year story by thoughtfully integrating AI into learning. This is not about replacing teachers. It is about expanding what students can explore, create, and understand.
During NBC’s visit, cameras captured AI in action in the classroom, where students are already using tools like JupyterLab, VS Code, and PyCharm to write and refine code while building foundational skills in data exploration, algorithmic thinking, and early AI model concepts.
With a full K–12 rollout planned, T-D is focused on responsible use, critical thinking, and real-world preparation. This footage shows just one moment, but it reflects a bigger idea: helping students learn how to use AI with purpose, creativity, and strong human judgment.
