Fit for the King ‘10
Harry King TD class of 2010 Alum
Happy Harry was always happy. Happy Harry came to T-D, a Delightful place, in seventh grade. Unlike most middle schoolers, Harry adjusted quickly, and Happy Harry stayed this way throughout his senior year. Personally, I could never forget all of his smiles and so many miles while making 100 Overlook Circle Harry’s second home. His Casa Grande was in Pelham, making him one of T-D’s highly regarded 10803 -10804 kids. New Rochelle’s zip is 10804.
Harry described the impossible dream that is T-D in two other words: “Fairy Tale.” No one in the State of Texas believes that Harry went to school with less than ten students in a class, with six world languages taught and over 30 different countries represented within a student body of 180. T-D’s trips each year fed Harry, and they increased his appetite for travel. Clearly, trips for Harry were better than any steak
that Texas could cook up for him. Mild exaggeration!! “Every trip was so different, and it was those differences that made an enormous difference in my life and what I do now, ” Harry said, “It really helped me as I am currently the Director of Sales at Stepstone,” an asset managing company.
Harry was a pretty darn good student in the B+ to A range with grades and an SAT scores of 600+. He went on from T-D to become a Ram at Fordham University.
Harry couldn’t say which teachers were his best, but he had some fond memories of all of them. Actually, he said: "They were all darn good. “Russian with Mrs. Vasendin was a blast. Johnson made all numbers so much easier once I graduated. Petrosino was quite a giant, and Grif Old Boy made history my favorite board game. For Harry his lessons on tobacco are as relevant today as they were when he sat in his class in Freedom Hall in 2008.
And she said,” How are you, Harry?” And I said,” How are you, Harry, too?” His answer was what I knew it would be. “I’m happy to hear from you,” was his response.
While Harry’s scholastic records gave so much promise to his success, “It was the T-D’s travel study experiences that made the difference,” he said. “I left T-D with one leg up and could easily accept other people’s opinions. With T-D’s diversity, I got to enjoy so many different viewpoints.
To me, T-D was and is massively underappreciated and undervalued. “Harry’s travel study résumé included Walking in Abraham Lincoln's footsteps, checking out the explorers in Portugal, and enjoying sushi in the Land of the Rising Sun, Japan.
Harry also worked hard at T-D and fine-tuned his diplomatic and ambassadorial skills with Sister School experiences in Busan, South Korea, Tirana, Albania, and Arezzo, Italy, twice. Harry could never forget Sciacca in Sicily.
“With T-D's help, I felt I could adjust to any environment and had no qualms about joining the Fordham University junior year abroad program in Italy. It was my return to Vita Bella that forever changed my life.” Amazingly, Harry escorted his Juliette -Jennifer Printz, there. Harry’s and Jen’s families converged in Italy at their wedding ceremony outside Napoli. It was a celebration fit for the Kings, Jen, and Harry. It truly is a That’s Amore story.
Right after the wedding reception, the two families made their way back to America, and Harry, with smiles galore, knew in his heart of hearts that he got what he had asked for a long, long time ago.
Here’s to the Kings!!
